Palavora
Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 4, 2026
Palavora respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, why we use it, and the choices you have when using the Palavora website and language-learning service.
Alpha status
Palavora is under active development. Features, service providers, and storage practices may evolve as the service grows. We will update this policy when those changes materially affect how your information is handled.
Information we collect
We collect only information needed to operate and improve Palavora:
- Account information: your email address, securely hashed password, account status, role, and membership level.
- Optional profile information: your name, short biography, preferred interface language, and time zone.
- Learning information: texts opened and completed, reading ratings, words and meanings saved to your word bank, practice modes, Leitner boxes, review dates, writing-exercise submissions and feedback, and related learning progress.
- information you submit through contact and problem-report forms. These messages are delivered to the site administrator by email.
- Technical information: essential session-cookie data, IP addresses used for security and rate limiting, and ordinary server or error logs needed to keep the service reliable.
Palavora does not currently collect payment information, precise location, advertising identifiers, or information from third-party advertising trackers.
How we use information
- Provide accounts, reading tools, word-bank features, and spaced-repetition practice.
- Display dates and review schedules in your preferred time zone.
- Review and approve alpha accounts, respond to messages, and investigate reported content.
- Protect Palavora from abuse and diagnose reliability or security problems.
- Understand and improve how the service works.
Cookies
Palavora uses an essential session cookie to keep you signed in and protect your account. It is not used for advertising. Palavora does not currently use advertising or analytics cookies.
Storage and service providers
Information is stored on systems used to operate Palavora. Trusted providers may process limited information when providing necessary services such as hosting, database infrastructure, email delivery, and audio storage or generation.
When you request automated writing feedback, your submitted writing, its Your Turn prompt when applicable, and suggested vocabulary are sent to OpenAI to generate supportive language corrections and a fluent alternative. Flow feedback also requests a relevant follow-up question. Reading texts are not sent for content evaluation.
Palavora does not sell or rent personal information and does not share it with third parties for their own advertising or marketing. Information may be disclosed when required by law, to protect the service or its users, or as part of a business transfer.
Retention and security
Account and learning information is generally retained while your account remains active. Support messages, security logs, and backups may remain for a reasonable period for operational, legal, or security purposes.
We use safeguards appropriate to the service, including password hashing, access controls, protected sessions, and encrypted network connections in production. No online service can guarantee absolute security.
Your choices
You can update available profile information from your account. You may also ask to access, correct, or delete your personal information. Some information may be retained where legally required or reasonably necessary for security and recordkeeping.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Palavora develops. The current version and its latest revision date will remain available on this page.
